Marijke Groenendaal is a privately trained professional soprano; her present vocal coach is Dutch soprano Marjan Kuiper.

At AIMS International Music School and Oxenfoord Summer School Marijke took part in masterclasses by, among others, Malcolm Martineau, Richard Jackson, Robin Bowman, Stephen Varcoe, Penelope MacKay, Ameral Gunson and Eugene Asti.

A successful partnership with pianist Jacob Engel, which begun in 2006, has resulted in a number of Art Song recitals in The Netherlands and the UK and the recordal of CDs in 2009 and 2017.
In 2018 Marijke joined with harpist Carla Bos to form Duo Verdes, performing Irish and British traditional songs, Art Song, opera and operetta arias.

Marijke regularly performs as a soloist in choir concerts and in small ensembles.

Although most of Marijke’s musical activities take place in The Netherlands, she has several contacts in England. She has sung as a soloist in concerts conducted by Neil Jenkins, Gregory Rose and Bryan Kay.
